授業テーマ Historical Change, the Individual, and Society: Things Fall Apart
授業のねらい・到達目標 Students will improve their abilities in reading complex fictional texts, participating in discussions, and in working on various writing assignments, including a group project and a final essay.
授業の方法 Chinua Achebe’s masterpiece Things Fall Apart is one of the most widely read novels in the world. It focuses on how historical changes affect both a community and an individual, while also showing readers that how a story is written is as important as what it says. Classroom and homework assignments will challenge students to understand and explain the relationships between history, narrative, the possible intentions of the author, and the novel’s main themes, along with enhancing abilities in reading, speaking, listening and writing.
