授業テーマ	学術・専門的な英語
授業のねらい・到達目標	「英語10」では、英文学科専門科目のための学術的な英語（批評、文学論、文化論、言語論など）、または社会に出てからの専門職に関わる専門的な英語を学ぶことが目標となります。それは日常の英語とは、語彙、文法、文体などの点で、かなり異なる英語です。しかし、英文学科を卒業して英語の専門家となるには、このような英語にも十分対応できる力が求められます。この授業を通して、学生諸君がそれぞれ、英語の専門家としての自覚を身につけることが期待されます。
授業の方法	言語、社会、文化などについて書かれた、英文学科にふさわしい、かなり高度な内容の英文のテキストを用いて、教員が講読演習を行ないます。学生諸君は毎時間十分に授業の用意をして、教室に臨んでください。同時期に行なわれる英文学科の専門教育科目と相まって、学術的な文章から、的確かつ迅速に内容を理解し、また、批判を行なえるような訓練を行ないます。
履修条件	①英文学科の3年生 ②前期の同一時限・同一教員の「英語9」と対にして履修すること。
事前学修・事後学修，授業計画コメント	授業の前に必ずテキストに目を通して、知らない単語、熟語を調べておくこと。英文の内容を把握し、自分の意見や考えをまとめて整理しておくこと。クラスで発表してもらいます。事後の学修として他の人との意見と自分の考えを整理しておくこと。また、表現、描写の素晴らしかったと思ったところは下線を引いて暗誦し、日常会話等で「使える」ようになるまで何度も繰り返し練習し英語での自己表現に役立ててください。
