授業テーマ The course aims to help students master the practical skills they will need to make effective and pursuasive communication.
授業のねらい・到達目標 In this semester, we will continue to concentrate on developing the skills acquired in the spring semester. The objective of this course is for students to improve their ability to understand and communicate with English speakers. Emphasis will be
placed on developing the listening and speaking skills, how to use the essential words, phrases and expressions, and sentence patterns necessary to communicate well in daily English communication.
授業の方法 Introduce students to a variety of communicative strategies (e.g. comprehension checking, listening and reading for specific information). In addition to the textbook, I will use supplementary materials and communicative activities through the use of audio and video tapes. Class work will consist of individual, group and pair work activities.
履修条件 ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。
②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。
③同一教員・同一時限で前期の「英語1」と対にして履修すること。
④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。
事前学修・事後学修,授業計画コメント Students are expected to spend at least an hour per week to review the lessons studied in class and listen to the CD in the textbook. In addition, students are encouraged to do the exercises and practice them outside the class with their friends to enable them to review and master the skills acquired.

2 Unit 7 - Music in Your Life - vocabulary on kinds of music and musical instruments, practice the conversation
Preparation - Homework assignment - do the exercise on page 33
3 Unit 7 continued - pronunciation, do the skill-building exercises
Preparation - Read pages 34-37
4 Unit 8 - Who`s older, you or your sister? - family tree, words for the family members, practice several conversations in pairs and groups
Preparation - Homework assignment - find adjectives to describe people
5 Unit 8 continued - different forms of adjectives to compare things, adjectives used for describing people, comparatives and superlatives
Preparation - Read pages 38-41
6 Unit 9 - How was your weekend? - regular and irregular verbs practice the conversation
Preparation - Homework assignment - do the exercise on page 41
7 Unit 9 continued
Preparation - Read pages 42-45
8 Unit 10 - Movies and Dating - vocabulary on movie genre, practice the model conversation
Preparation - Read pages 46-47 and do the follow-up exercises
9 Unit 10 continued - listening and practicing the conversation with a partner

10 Unit 11 - Weather, Seasons and Health - weather words, practice the conversation

成績評価の方法及び基準 平常点(20%)、授業内テスト(60%)、授業参画度(20%)
Evaluations will be based on regular class attendance, active class participation, completion of homework and a final written examination at the end of the semester. Students who are frequently absent or late will not receive credit for the course.
オフィスアワー You can meet me before class in the teachers` lounge and after class in the classroom.
