授業テーマ | Preparing students to write academic essays in English. |
---|---|
授業のねらい・到達目標 | The ultimate aim of this semester’s class is to prepare students to write their first academic essay in English. The first part of the class will establish the fundamentals of proper paragraphs. We will then move on to learning and practicing the basic parts of an essay, with the final project being a grammatically sound, well-organized, thoughtful, informative and engaging essay on an academic subject. |
授業の方法 | Each class will feature extensive in-class writing, along with discussion and guidance from the teacher. In the week between classes there will be extensive homework; students should be prepared for assignments that will require them to write something every week. The in-class writing and homework tasks are designed to make students practice writing both grammatically correct and meaningful sentences, as well as putting sentences together in logical order to create paragraphs and essays. Highly motivated students will appreciate that learning to write involves lots of writing practice. |
事前学修・事後学修,授業計画コメント | Students are required to complete all homework assignments according to the syllabus schedule. |
