授業テーマ 「生きた」英語によるコミュニケーション

In this course, students will develop their academic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through study and discussion of English lectures of varying lengths. Activities will include listening to lectures in class, taking structured notes, discussion, answering questions, and writing summaries. In this course, students will also develop their communication skills through a variety of pair, group and class activities. Emphasis will be placed on improving pronunciation, intonation and grammar knowledge.
授業のねらい・到達目標 「英語1」は、聞く・話すという、音声言語としてのコミュニケーション能力を培うことを目標としています。母国語習得過程を振り返っても十分理解できるように、言語は思ったり感じたりすることを話し、これを聞いて理解するものとして発達してきました。英語によく耳を傾け、おおよその内容を理解できるようになること、自分が相手に伝えようとすることを英語で即座に表現できること、そうしたコミュニケーション能力を高めていくことがこの授業のねらいです。

The course aims to develop communication skills so that students can become more confident users of English, at university and beyond and also to improve all-round English communication skills through practicing speaking, listening, reading and writing as much as possible. Students are encouraged to actively participate in class. Through the study, students will experience a multitude of different pronunciations and expressions. By studying the dialogues in the text lectures, students can acquire a good command of refined English.
授業の方法 Students will be graded mostly on:
• Attendance/ attentiveness & class participation, 60%
• Weekly Homework turned in
• 5 to 6 short Unit quizzes 40%
• 5 to 6 longer unit tests
All homework, quizzes, and tests are based on the 5 to 6 units covered in the textbook. All short quizzes will assess listening comprehension skills. The tests will cover information covered in the text and from lecture notes.
Since Eigo 1 & 2 is a required course, students must attend every class and actively participate. If students miss too many classes, they may fail this course and have to retake it again. Students should try their best to come to every class and actively participate.
