授業概要 Using familiar, everyday topics to create language fluency in the learner's English ability.
授業のねらい・到達目標 Able to provide student's with familiar topics to help improve their speaking and listening ability and at the same time, give them the structures they need to build accuracy and confidence in their speaking.

この科目は文理学部(学士(文学))のディプロマポリシーDP2,DP4,DP5及びカリキュラムポリシーCP5,CP8に対応しています。
授業の方法 A unit begins with a dialog or text about a situation. Using the situation as a base we will explore its vocabulary and grammar, do listenings and finally, a have a small group discussion or speaking exercise. To develop these skills, we will spend two or three weeks per unit.
Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class.
履修条件 ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。
②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。
③「英語1」(前期)と「英語2」(後期)は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。
④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。

1 Remind class of the course procedures from the first semester and the in-class and out-of-class (homework) requirements.
Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise from Unit 5, Employment, part 1.
2 Pronunciation : Contrasting 'to be' questions (Present and Past tense).
Intonation dialogs: 48-51
Preparation: List the best and worst part-time jobs.
Unit Five: Employment Dialog

Homework is a grammar-manipulation exercise from Employment unit.
3 Pronunciation exercise: 'Wh questions to be, Present tense.
Dialogs for intonation 52 - 55.

Preparation: Role play situation: At a job interview
Unit Five: Employment (part 2). Jobs, grammar exercises: written and spoken.
Homework is a pre-discussion exercise from Employment: Talk About My Dream Job.

13 Pronunciation exercise: 'Do' in negative questions.
Intonation dialogs 93 - 97.
Preparation: Bring in questions you have about semester 2 situations we studied.
Unit 8, Entertainment (part 3) Group discussion day & compare lists of entertainments.

Homework: You and your date are deciding what to do tonight.
Write an eight line conversation.
14 Answer any questions about second semester review of vocabulary and grammar.

Introduction to the final examination.

Preparation: Study hard for the final examination.
15 Brief exam overview and administer final examination which will

test vocabulary, dictation, reading, and a short essay.

The whole period will be used for the exam.

Students need to prepare for the exam.
