授業概要	Using familiar, everyday topics to create language fluency in the learner's English ability.
授業のねらい・到達目標	Able to provide student's with familiar topics to help improve their speaking and listening ability and at the same time, give them the structures they need to build accuracy and confidence in their speaking. この科目は文理学部（学士（文学））のディプロマポリシーDP2,DP4,DP5及びカリキュラムポリシーCP5,CP8に対応しています。
授業の方法	A unit begins with a dialog or text about a situation. Using the situation as a base we will explore its vocabulary and grammar, do listenings and finally, a have a small group discussion or speaking exercise. To develop these skills, we will spend two or three weeks per unit. Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class.
履修条件	①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」（前期）と「英語2」（後期）は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。

授業計画
1	Review of the course procedures fro the first semester and the in-class and out-of-class (homework) requirements will be explained and discussed. Preparation: Study vocabulary in Unit 1, 'Sports & Games 1'. Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise from Unit 1.
2	Pronunciation exercise: Contrast between a and the Intonation dialogs: 1 - 4 Unit One Sports and Games (part 1). Get ready for Role Play in ' 1' Preparation: Study vocabulary in 'Sports & Games 2'. Homework is a grammar-manipulation exercise from Sports unit 1.
3	Pronunciation exercise: Preposition 'to'. Dialogs for intonation 5 - 8 Preparation: Study and add questions to Sports pre-discussion worksheet. Unit One: Sports & Games 2, Role Play exercise Sports and Games 1. Homework is a pre-discussion exercise about Sports and Games
4	Pronunciation exercise: Preposition 'of'. Intonation dialogs 9 -12 Preparation: Study Unit 2, Directions Vocabulary (1). Unit One: , Sports and Games 3, Discussion class. Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise for Unit 1.
5	Pronunciation exercise: Contractions with 'will' and 'would' Intonation dialogs 13-16. Preparation: Study Role Play for Directions (1) Unit 2 Directions, Dialog and Vocabulary (part 1). Homework will be a grammar exercise, from Unit 2 Directions.
6	Pronunciation exercise: Contractions with 'had better'. Intonation dialogs 17 - 20. Preparation: Directions (2) Vocabulary worksheet Unit 2 Directions (part 2). Grammar Written and oral exercises. Homework will be a pre- discussion exercises about Unit 2.
7	Pronunciation exercise practicing: 'Contractions with 'not'. Intonation dialogs 21 - 24 Preparation: Unit 3, Telephone, part 1--vocabulary. Unit 2, Directions (part 3), group discussion day. Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise for Unit 3, Telephone.
8	Pronunciation exercise: Contrast between 'isn't' and 'aren't'. Intonation dialogs 25 - 28 . Preparation: Role Play exercise for Telephone, part 1. Unit 3 Telephone (1) Dialog & Vocabulary lesson. Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise for Telephone.
9	Pronunciation exercise: Contrasting aren't' and 'weren't'. Intonation dialogs numbers 29 - 32. Preparation: Talk about unusual telephone experiences. (Unit 3 ), Telephone Grammar writing and oral practice. Homework will be a pre- discussion' warm-up exercise.
10	Pronunciation exercise: Words beginning with aspirated 'H'. Intonation dialogs 33 - 35. Preparation: Vocabulary study sheet for Unit 4,Shopping. Unit 3, Telephone (part 3), Group discussion. Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise for Unit 3 .
11	Pronunciation exercise: Reduced 'them' and 'him'. Intonation dialogs 36 - 39. Preparation: Practice Role Play for Shopping Unit. Unit 4,Shopping (part 1) Dialog and Vocabulary. Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.Unit 4, Shopping (part 1).
12	Pronunciation exercise: verbs with 'ing' endings. Intonation dialogs 40 - 43. Preparation:Study pre-discussion warm-up questions for Shopping unit. Unit 4, Shopping (part 2). Grammar written & oral practice. Homework will be a pre- discussion preparation exercise for Shopping unit.
13	Pronunciation exercise: 'going to', 'want to' and 'have to' Intonation dialogs 44-47. Preparation: Do Shopping vocabulary errors exercise sheet. Unit 4, Shopping (part 3) Small group discussion day. Review of vocabulary sheet.
14	First Semester review and introduction to the final examination. Preparation: Bring in questions about Situations this semester. Unit 4, Shopping, check over and discuss assigned Shopping vocabulary errors worksheet.
15	Brief exam overview and administer final examination which will test vocabulary, dictation, reading, and a short essay. The whole period will be used for the exam. Students need to prepare for the exam.
