授業概要	In this class, we will be focusing on English conversation and general communication. By using the assigned textbook and other materials, we will practice everyday English that use can one day use in a realistic situation. There will be an emphasis on speaking and listening. While there will be occasional reading and writing exercises and assignments, the main focus will be speaking and listening. Sometimes the topics will be of a functional nature (ordering in a restaurant, asking for directions, self-introductions) and other times we will be using more advanced structures. (Giving opinions and discussing current events will be a theme at times.)
授業のねらい・到達目標	At the end of this class, each student can express themselves clearly and with confidence. Each student will be able to ask questions and instigate conversation in English. Each student can offer up opinions on current events and discuss topical issues. Each student will be able to understand common questions in English. Each student can use the proper tense when speaking. Each student will be able to describe people, places and things to a third party. Each student can be more confident and enthusiastic when speaking the English language. この科目は文理学部（学士（文学））のディプロマポリシーDP2,DP4,DP5及びカリキュラムポリシーCP5,CP8に対応しています。
授業の方法	Conversation (both guided and unguided) will be mainstay of each lesson. On average we will cover one unit of the textbook per week. Each class will be dedicated to improving listening, either with a class audio program or orally by the teacher. Some sort of vocabulary exercise will be incorporated into each class. (Often at the start of the class.) Speaking partners will change every week and most students will interact with everyone at one time. Reports will be assigned each semester and be due at the end of the respective semesters. Final exams will be given at the end of each semester. (There will a thorough review and preparation.) Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class.
履修条件	①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」（前期）と「英語2」（後期）は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。

成績評価の方法及び基準	レポート(20%)、授業内テスト(20%)、授業参画度(30%)、Small quizzes (15%)、Class presentation (15%) Student's participation will be measured by in-class speaking activities, doing the home work and being prepared for each lesson. In-class examination will be measured by final scores on tests/exams.
