Additionally, if the size of the class allows it (less than 30 students), occasional synchronous interactive classes of 45-50 mins via Zoom conducted at the class scheduled time. 授業概要 | This course is tailored for the needs of postgraduate students contemplating a career in academia. We discuss the ins and outs of academic writing, reading each week academic texts written by established scholars and students alike. We analyze their strong and weak points to understand what ultimately constitutes good academic writing. We discuss how to teach academic writing to future students and how to help them use their academic writing skills beyond the field of academia, in diverse career paths, or in everyday life conversations. |
授業のねらい・到達目標 | Students should acquire self-confidence in their ability to teach academic writing in the future. They should achieve an in-depth understanding of academic writing by: (1) Mastering the structure of academic essays; (2) Knowing how to choose and use evidence and sources; (3) Understanding the rhetoric of academic writing; (4) Making up their own ideas about the purpose of academic writing. この科目は文理学部のディプロマポリシーDP2, 3, 6, 及びカリキュラムポリシーCP2, 3, 6に対応している。(A-2-4, A-3-4, A-6-4). |
授業の方法 | 授業の形式:【講義,演習】 Students learn to read literary and academic texts in English and communicate on the topic. Via Blackboard, students have access to reading materials and PowerPoint slides on-demand and need to submit short assignments every week (quizzes and short essays on the reading materials). Students need to attend the synchronous Zoom classes and participate in the live discussions. The final essay also needs to be submitted via Blackboard. Blackboardを通してオンデマンド教材を配信する(テキストとPowerPointスライド)。受講生はその教材を学修し、所定の方法で課題の解答やエッセイーを提供する。また、Zoomによる同時双方向型の授業に出席すること。 |
