| 授業のねらい・到達目標 | 授業のねらい (jugyō no nerai)・到達目標 (tōtatsu mokuhyō) / lesson objectives and goals / Lernziele und -inhalte Das Seminar untersucht die Modellierung von Inseln in Reiseberichten, literarischen Texten und im Film. Inseln und Archipele erscheinen dabei einerseits als paradiesische und utopische Orte, die durch vielfältige Verbindungslinien untereinander verknüpft sind. Andererseits erscheinen Inseln aber auch als Räume von Isolation und als Dystopien. Insulare Ökosysteme fungieren im Diskurs über das Anthropozän als Modelle des Erdsystems insgesamt. Ziel dieses Seminars ist es, unterschiedliche Inselsnarrative literatur- und kulturwissenschaftlich einordnen und kritisch reflektieren zu können. This seminar examines the modeling and representation of islands in travel writing, literary texts, and movies. Islands and archipelagos appear both as paradisiacal and utopian spaces interconnected through diverse networks, and as sites of isolation and dystopia. In discourses on the Anthropocene, insular ecosystems function as models of the Earth system as a whole. The aim of this seminar is to enable students to contextualize and critically reflect upon diverse island narratives from literary and cultural-studies perspectives. |

| 授業の方法 | 授業の方法 (jugyō no hōhō) / Unterrichtsmethode / teaching method verschiedene Motive und Erzählmuster des Diskurses über Inseln. Sie vergleichen historische Reisebeschreibungen mit literarischen Texten und Filmen. Sie diskutieren die Frage nach den Besonderheiten insularer Räume, was Inselwelten und Archipele so faszinierend und umstritten macht. Students will become familiar with key motifs and narrative patterns in discourses on islands. They will compare historical travel accounts with literary texts and movies and discuss the specific characteristics of insular spaces, examining what makes island worlds and archipelagos both fascinating and contested. |
| 履修条件 | 履修条件 (rishū jōken) / Kursanforderungen / Course requirements: 授業言語は英語とドイツ語です。 他学部の学生およびドイツ語の知識がない留学生でも、本テーマに関心があれば本セミナーへの参加を歓迎します。ドイツ語の知識は、ドイツ語からの翻訳を確認するためにあることが望ましいです。 Languages of instruction are English and German. Students from other departments and international students without knowledge of German who are interested in the topic are welcome to join this seminar. Knowledge of German is desirable in order to review translations from German. Unterrichtssprachen sind Englisch und Deutsch. Studierende aus anderen Fachbereichen und internationale Studierende ohne Deutschkenntnisse mit einem Interesse an der Fragestellung sind in diesem Seminar willkommen. Deutschkenntnisse sind wünschenswert, um Übersetzungen aus dem Deutschen zu überprüfen. |
