授業テーマ | To help students gain fluency in basic conversational English, and work on public speaking skills. |

授業のねらい・到達目標 | This class is designed to increase students confidence in basic spoken English. |
授業の方法 | Students will talk about daily conversational topics in pairs or in small groups, and practice speaking before a group. |
履修条件 | ・同一教員・同一時限で前期と後期を対にして履修すること。 ・後期のみの受講希望者も必ず「前期」の初回授業に参加し、履修の許可を得た上で、後期に履修登録をすること。前期の初回授業時に受講希望者が定員を超過した場合、人数調整をする。 ・Only for students who are prepared to try to speak in English. |
事前学修・事後学修,授業計画コメント | Students must buy the textbook and bring a good dictionary. Also, they will be expected to do some homework including preparing for speaking and vocabulary tests. |

2 | Practice role play -Inviting someone out over the telephone, discuss locations, suggestions meetings places, and rescheduling. Text Unit 11 - Travelling Abroad. |
3 | Speaking test - On the telephone. Continue text Unit 11 - Travelling abroad. |
4 | Talking about destinations, dangers, sightseeing etc. Practice role play - At the Travel Agency. |
5 | Speaking test - At the travel Agency. Discuss researching about a location and presenting your material in interesting ways in a formal presentation. |
6 | Editing, talking about and practicing presenting your information about a holiday destination. Practice impromptu speaking skills. |
7 | Presentations on travelling abroad. Talking about signposting and practice using process language to give directions on how to do something. HW - bring a rexipe |

9 | Speaking test - In the kitchen. Unit 5 - Finding the right job. Talk about employment and job hunting and helpful hints to be successful in a job interview. Questioning skills. |

成績評価の方法及び基準 | レポート(10%)、Speaking tests(50%)、Vocabulary, Listening and Language usage(40%) Students who are frequently late or absent will not receive credit for this course. Nor will students who constantly speak in Japanese in class. |
オフィスアワー | Mondays 2.20 pm - 2.40 pm or after class, in the part-time teacher's room, or by special appointment. |
備考 | Please try not to be shy. The more you try to speak in English the better you will become. It is ok to make mistakes so don't worry. |
