オーラル・コミュニケーション１

授業テーマ	Successful communication requires cultural knowledge as well as communicative skill building. This course is designed to help students understand how to use communicative English.
授業のねらい・到達目標	Each class consists of vocabulary, listening, speaking and some pronunciation. The course is aimed to help students activate their knowledge of English. They will use English to interact with the teacher and with each other.
授業の方法	Each unit of the text is divided into two sections, A and B. We will stay with the A section most of the time but will use the B section to a limited extent. Students will also have to use the Internet to complete assignments and exercises from the textbook's website companion. Blogs and online discussions will also be used and graded.

3	Planning for the future; describing role models; reading about artists without borders.
4	Modern day heroes from different walks of life; listening for gist and details
5	Details about studying--vocabulary: memory, memorize, memories. Listening for gist and details about studying.
6	Student Presentations: Personal Heroes.
7	Physical fitness. Talking about your health and body. Exam stress. Listening for gist and detail about dreams.
8	More about health. Fighting stress. Maintaining your health. Body parts. Listening for gist and details about healthy lifestyles.
9	Talented people. Discovering your special talents and the talents of your classmates. Listening for gist and details about a TV show.
10	Special achievements. Talking about amazing experiences. Things to do before you are 70. Listening for gist and details about an unusual sport.
11	Types of movies--action, adventure, horror, romantic comedies, etc. Listenting for gist and details about movies.
12	Movie remakes. Listening for gist and details of an interview with a movie director
13	Term Examination
14	Library Assignment using Blackboard.
15	Movie Clips--Listening to spoken English and listening for meaning.

成績評価の方法及び基準	試験(40%)、平常点(20%)、レポート(15%)、Attendance(10%)、class blogs, journals, and discussions(15%) Students who are frequently late or absent will not receive credit for the course. Reports may be either oral or written.
オフィスアワー	Mondays, 12:20-2:00, Room 7314.
備考	Parts of the course will use Blackboard9--an interactive teaching tool provided by the Computer Center of CHS. Students will need to know how access the campus internet as they will have to use blogs, do homework assignments, and take part in online discussions. Permission to access the campus internet is issued by the computer center as part of first year student orientation.
