授業テーマ	This course will focus on helping students to function confidently and successfully in social situations,with special emphasis on using English in their work.
授業のねらい・到達目標	The aim of this class is to reinforce and expand students` listening, speaking and reading skills acquired in the first semester. Students will develop confidence and autonomy in their learning through using English in real life.
授業の方法	Each week, we will practice a model conversation, do vocabulary exercises, answer comprehension questions and other activities in the form of listening and speaking.

授業計画
1	Review of units 1-6 completed in the first semester. Students will make short presentations about their summer vacation. Discussion of syllabus for the fall semester.
2	Unit 7 - Movies and television - conversation, talk about movies, movie description, listening practice.
3	Unit 7 continued - talking about TV, listening practice, opinion of students about movies and TV.
4	Students watch a movie based on cultural differences. Discussion of the movie.
5	Unit 8 - Work - conversation, questions about work, job interviews and questions asked at the interview.
6	Unit 8 continued - listening practice, vocabulary review, students learn how to write a resume in English.
7	Unit 9 - Health - conversation, talk about health, give advice about health.
8	Unit 9 continued – listening practice, learning relevant medical terms and phrases.
9	Unit 11 - Music and books - conversation, talking about famous books and authors, talk about music and books
10	Unit 11 continued - listening practice. Guidelines for group presentation on social issues. Details are given to the students in the form of a handout.
11	Unit 12 - Culture and places in Japan - conversation, talk about places in Japan.
12	Unit 12 continued - best places in Japan, talk about Japanese culture, listening exercise.
13	In class test and explanation.
14	Students prepare for the presentation on social issues.
15	Presentation by the students and comments by the teacher.

成績評価の方法及び基準	平常点(10%)、授業内テスト(70%)、Group Presentation(20%) Students who are absent for more than 1/3 of the classes without a valid reason will not receive the credit for the course.
オフィスアワー	Tuesdays 12.40 to 1.00 p.m in the teacher's lounge
