授業テーマ	This course will present everyday English language in various situations and provide students with opportunities to increase their confidence in speaking a foreign language, to add to their vocabulary and to help students approach English in a way that will be useful in daily life. The course will include a variety of weekly topics that encourage students to express their ideas and opinions.
授業のねらい・到達目標	The aim of this class is to help students become comfortable in both speaking and understanding English even if their ability is limited. Part of this goal is to convince the students not to be afraid of making mistakes in speaking within an all-English environment. The classroom, under the tutelage of a native-English instructor, will be a model of such an environment.
授業の方法	The class will be centered on communicative activities that consist of listening exercises and conversation drills. Printed materials will serve as the framework for pair and group work, as well as individual activities. The instructor will function as a coach to motivate students to develop their oral speaking skills.

3	Drugs and Medicine: Which do most people in your country prefer: traditional medicine or modern medicine? What type of treatment would you recommend to a person who has the flu? 4	The Environment: Do you think recycling is important? Why? When you travel, do you usually drink bottled water? Why or why not? In your opinion, what can Tokyo do to improve its air quality? 5	Secrets: Have you ever revealed someone's secret when you weren't supposed to? If your friend were doing something illegal what would you do? If a friend was talking about suicide would you tell his/her parents? Preparation: Read carefully the handouts given in the first class.
6	The Paranormal: Have you ever been to a fortune teller? Do you believe in ghosts? Do you have a lucky number? Do you think that some people can predict the future? Has anything ever happened to you that you cannot explain? Preparation: Read carefully the handouts given in the first class.
7	Rude People: Are you sometimes rude? What acts of rudeness bother you most? Is rudeness a problem in your country? Do cars make people rude? Is it rude to ask someone’s age? Preparation: Read carefully the handouts given in the first class.
8	Investments: What can you invest in? What are risky investments? Do you trust people with your money? When should people start investing their money? Preparation: Read carefully the handouts given in the first class.
9	Lies: Why do people lie? Is it OK to tell lies and how often do you lie? Who lies more men or women? Do you feel guilty when you tell a lie? Preparation: Read carefully the handouts given in the first class.
10	Birthdays: Do you like birthdays? What’s the best birthday present you’ve ever been given? What present would you like for your next birthday? How do you usually celebrate your birthday? What did you do on your last birthday? Preparation: Read carefully the handouts given in the first class.
