授業テーマ	「生きた」英語によるコミュニケーション
授業のねらい・到達目標	「英語1」は、聞く・話すという、音声言語としてのコミュニケーション能力を培うことを目標としています。母国語習得過程を振り返っても十分理解できるように、言語は思ったり感じたりすることを話し、これを聞いて理解するものとして発達してきました。英語によく耳を傾け、おおよその内容を理解できるようになること、自分が相手に伝えようとすることを英語で即座に表現できること、そうしたコミュニケーション能力を高めていくことがこの授業のねらいです。
授業の方法	「英語1」は、ネイティヴ・スピーカーの教員および一部のクラスでは日本人教員が担当します。言語の基本的なメディアである、音声によるコミュニケーションを中心に授業を行います。文字という視覚に頼りがちな傾向を改め、「生きた英語」に触れながら、十分な音声によるコミュニケーションが行える能力を養うよう授業を行います。この授業で最も大切なことは、毎時間、教員の「生きた英語」に接することです。学生諸君の積極的な授業参加が望まれます。臆することなく、積極的に参加すれば、得るものが大きい授業です。
履修条件	①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、FLEC（外国語教育センター）にて振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③後期は同一教員による同一時限の「英語2」を履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。
事前学修・事後学修，授業計画コメント	Students will be expected to review the previous lesson、complete homework, and prepare for the next lesson as part of your outside preparatory work. In addition, there will be weekly vobabulary quizzes. A more detailed lesson plan will be provided at the beginning of the course.

授業計画
1	Introduction and Orientation Preparation: A self-introduction (your hobbies and interests, etc.) Be ready to introduce yourself.
2	Unit 1: Introducing Yourself Preparation: Read through Unit 1 of the textbook and complete homework.
3	Unit 1: Remembering Childhood Preparation: Think about things you used to do as a child and descrobe your past, prersent, and possible future.
4	Unit 2: Transportation Preparation: Read through Unit 2 of the textbook and complete homework.
5	Unit 2: Transportation Problems Preparation: Think about transportation problems and city services, and describe your favorite mode of transportation.
6	Unit 3: Houses and Apartments Part 1 Preparation: Read through Unit 3 of the textbook and complete homework.
7	Unit 3: Houses and Apartments Part 2 Preparation: Think about which you prefer.　Why? Describe your home.
8	Mid-Term Quiz: Assessment and commentary Preparqation: Review all notes and textbook chapters.
9	Unit 4: Food Part 1 Preparation: Read through Unit 4 of the textbook and complete homework.
10	Unit 4: Food Part 2 Preparation: Think about and describe your favorite food. Why do you like it?
11	Unit 5: Travel Part 1 Preparation: Read through Unit 5 of the textbook and complete homework.
12	Unit 5: Travel Part 2 Preparation: Think about places you want to visit. Why do you like them?
13	Unit 6: Common Complaints Part 1 Preparation: Read through Unit 6 and complete homework.
14	Unit 6: Common Complaints Part 2 Preparation: Think about and describe complaints of family, life, restaurants, hotels, etc. Describe the problems.
15	Final Test; Assessment and commentary Preparation: Review all the notes and textbook chapters.
