| 授業の形態 | In principle, this class will be conducted in-person. However, to accommodate exchange students who might be unable to enter Japan, this class may be switched to synchronous interactive classes via Zoom, conducted at the class scheduled time. The format depends on the students’ status and the ongoing situation regarding the pandemic restrictions in Japan. | 授業概要 | This course is designed to be an overview of contemporary Japanese society in the context of globalization. Throughout the course, we explore critical issues in today’s Japanese society with a focus on the topics surrounding work, education, gender, and population. By engaging with critical issues and looking at data, students will deepen their knowledge of Japan from an international perspective by understanding the changes that have occurred and the existing challenges in contemporary Japanese society. |

| 授業の方法 | 授業の形式：【講義】 Students learn to read academic and media texts in English and communicate on the topic. Via Blackboard, students have access to reading materials and need to submit assignments. Students need to attend the classes and participate in discussions. The final essay also needs to be submitted via Blackboard. 毎週授業に出席し、ディスカッションに参加する。Blackboardを通して教材を配信するが、事前に受講生はその教材を学修し、所定の方法で課題の解答やエッセーを提供する。課題やエッセーのフィードバックは毎回ブラックボードで行う。また、授業に欠席する場合は、必ず教員の許可を得ること。 |
