授業概要 | This course is designed to promote students' intellectual and emotional stimulation through topics such as extreme sports, eco-tourism, advertising, and so forth. In this course, fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, critical thinking, pronunciation and independent oral communication project work will all be taught through three topics. Each topic includes 2 contrasting listening selections in which students will listen for main ideas, details and make inferences. |
授業のねらい・到達目標 | By the end of this course, students can expect to be able to... 1) Understand various types of information and opinions by listening to a variety of genres/topics of English, for example, space travel, marriage and climate change 2) Speak English, including group discussions, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, conversation tasks and oral presentations according to the purpose, contexts, and situations about a variety of topics 3) Perform integrated language activities, including listening for main ideas, details, making inferences and discussing. この科目は文理学部(学士(文学)のDP3,4,6,7及びCP3,4,6,7に対応しています。 (A-3-2) 既存の知識にとらわれることなく, 言語現象や歴史的事象を論理的・批判的に説明することができる。 (A-4-2) 英語学・英語圏文学に潜む問題を発見し, 専門的知識に基づいて説明することができる。 (A-6-2) 親しい人々とコミュニケーションを取り, 専門的知識について正しく説明することができる。 (A-7-2) 学修活動において, 積極的にリーダーシップを発揮し, 他者と協働して作業をすることができる。 |
授業の方法 | ① 授業の形式:【演習(Lecture)】 ② Students will integrate the content from the two listening tasks through oral production exercises. Each unit can culminate in a sustained individual or group speaking task, and/or a presentation or writing assignment. In addition to engaging the students' interests, activities will include group discussions, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, critical thinking tasks, and oral presentations. ③ Homework, Presentations, and Writing tasks will be evaluated based on rubrics shown when the tasks are informed. ④ Students who are unable to attend to in-person classes will be required to do assignments on blackboard or Google Classroom, instead of attending class. Students who live abroad and far away from the campus. Also, students who are permitted by CHS or departments they belong to, or students who are permitted by class teachers will be required to complete and submit weekly assignments. These assignments will be sent to students by the instructor via email. |
