| 授業概要 | This course explores the modernization of Japanese culture during the Taisho era through the prism of literature. By reading Tanizaki Junichiroʼs 1925 novel “Naomi”, we follow the changes that revolutionized the Japanese lifestyle in terms of gender roles, education, media, and leisure. 谷崎潤一郎の小説『痴人の愛』を英語で読み、大正期の日本社会におけるジェンダー、メディア、レジャーなどの近代化を考える。 |
| 授業のねらい・到達目標 | The aim of this course is to study the specificities of Japanese modernization as expressed by one of the greatest Japanese authors of the 20th century. Students should read and study the novel “Naomi” in English and analyze its main themes. They should achieve a general understanding of the ways Japanese cultural life rapidly changed in the 1920s and its consequences for Japanese society to this day. この科目は文理学部のDP及びCP1に対応しています。この科目は文理学部のディプロマポリシーDP2, 3, 6, 及びカリキュラムポリシーCP2, 3, 6に対応している。(A-2-2, A-3-2, A-6-2). |

| 授業の方法 | Students learn to read literary and academic texts in English and communicate on the topic. Via Canvas LMS, students have access to reading materials and need to submit short assignments every 2 weeks (quizzes and short essays on the reading materials). Students need to attend the classes and submit in-class assignments every week. The final essay also needs to be submitted via Canvas LMS. 毎週授業に出席し、ディスカッションに参加する。Canvas LMSを通して教材を配信するが、事前に受講生はその教材を学修し、所定の方法で課題の解答やエッセイーを提供する。課題やエッセーのフィードバックは毎回Canvas LMSで行う。また、授業に欠席する場合は、必ず教員の許可を得ること。対面参加ができない場合は、事前に教員の許可を得てリモート参加と課題提出が可能。 |
