| 授業の形態 | The class format of this course is face to face (In-Person). | 授業概要 | This course is designed to help students consolidate their communication ability. The course builds on the class activity style of the first semester; including the Active Learning methods. Its target skills are advanced speechmaking techniques, active listening techniques and summary reports. Students work on the prescribed language skills by customizing sample conversations from the textbook and making structured speeches. Discussions and Q&A sessions that follow presentation practices are meant to maximize interaction among students. They also play a role in the overall grade evaluation. |

| 授業の方法 | (演習) Students complete the introductory tasks of the scheduled unit beforehand. Units are completed within one class session. Some of the units start with a short quiz. ( フィードバック ) Feedback for quizzes is given during class sessions as part of the overall skill review. Feedback for speech practices is given in form of peer evaluation and individually by the instructor. Assignments that are submitted offline, are handed back to students after being checked by the instructor |

| 成績評価の方法及び基準 | 試験(20%)、レポート:Speech scripts and essay assignments(30%)、授業内テスト:Three in-session quizzes(15%)、授業参画度:Speech report feedback and participation in Q&A sessions and discussions(15%)、Two speech practices(20%) Test (試験) is measured by the progress reviews of sessions 6 and 15. Report is measured by the preparation of the scripts of the speech practices and writing assignments (including short essays). In-class examination (授業内テスト) is measured by short quizzes in sessions 3, 4 and 9. Participation is measured by the active engagement in Q&A sessions and group discussions. Late submissions of assignments are not accepted. |
| オフィスアワー | Students can contact the instructor by sending an email or seeing him directly before/after a class session. The instructor's email address is provided on the first day of the term. Students can also visit the Teachers' room during lunch time (12:30-12:55) on Saturdays. |
