| 授業概要 | This course is designed to develop students’ academic English speaking and writing skills. Students will actively use English in class through pair work, group discussions, and instructor-led activities, with the goal of maximizing English use and minimizing reliance on Japanese. The course follows a structured approach using a textbook that addresses contemporary global and social issues. Students will learn and apply key academic vocabulary and grammar, and they will develop the ability to organize their ideas clearly in both spoken and written English. Special emphasis will be placed on paragraph writing, including topic sentences, supporting details, and logical organization. Throughout the semester, students will deliver a minimum of two short speeches or presentations. In addition, students will produce structured academic paragraphs that demonstrate clarity, coherence, and appropriate support for their ideas. Collaboration will be an essential component of the course, as students will regularly work with classmates to exchange ideas, practice fluency, and refine their writing. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves, take risks in English, and actively participate in all classroom activities. |

Expand and accurately use academic vocabulary and grammar in both spoken and written English. Express their opinions on a range of contemporary topics in clear, logical, and well-supported English. | 授業の方法 | This course uses an active, student-centered approach to learning English. Students will engage with the content and exercises in the textbook through pair work, small-group discussions, and whole-class activities. Open discussion of course topics will be a central component of each lesson. Students will be expected to participate regularly and use English as much as possible during classroom activities. Ongoing feedback will be provided during class to support improvement in fluency, organization, vocabulary, and accuracy. |
| 履修条件 | ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、GRECで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」(前期)と「英語2」(後期)は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。 |
