| 授業の形態 | This course uses active learning, such as group speaking and discussion tasks. In order to enhance educational effectiveness, students who are able to attend in-person classes are eligible to take the course. |
| 授業概要 | The overall aim of this course is to develop students' ability to communicate effectively in English through both spoken and written output. Using the World Link resource, students will explore a variety of global cultures, countries, lifestyles, and real-world topics. Each unit includes output-focused activities in which students express their ideas through both speaking and writing. In class, students will participate in speaking tasks and complete short writing activities related to each unit, both of which are assessed. These activities are designed to help students express themselves clearly and effectively when speaking and writing in English. Active learning is implemented through the use of group speaking and discussion tasks. |
| 授業のねらい・到達目標 | In this course, students will develop their English speaking and writing skills. In particular, students will be able to: communicate ideas about the role of English in society and English-speaking contexts (A-2-1) understand and appreciate global cultures and social issues (A-3-1) use appropriate grammar and vocabulary to express thoughts and opinions when speaking and writing in English (A-6-1) この科目は文理学部のDP及びCPの2・3・6に対応しています。 |

| 授業の方法 | Students will read and listen to authentic texts, engage with the materials through communicative activities in groups, and complete short quizzes. Students will also complete weekly writing tasks related to each unit. Students will be expected to give a short presentation at the end of the semester. Feedback will be provided in class. |
| 履修条件 | ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、GRECで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」(前期)と「英語2」(後期)は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。 |

| 成績評価の方法及び基準 | 授業内テスト:Unit review quizzes (class 6, 10 and 14)(30%)、授業参画度:Participation and engagement(30%)、Presentations, speaking tasks, and weekly writing tasks(40%) Participation and engagement will be measured by students' preparation and effort during class. Failing to participate (including, among other activities, incomplete homework, lack of class contributions, using your mobile phone, using your laptop for non-class related activities) will result in a reduction in your final grade. The final presentation will be held in week 15. Speaking and writing tasks will be conducted weekly. Performance in these tasks will be evaluated based largely on students' level of preparation and effort. |
