| 授業概要 | This course is designed for beginner-level students to improve their everyday English communication skills. Students will practice speaking, listening, and writing in English through textbook-based activities, podcast-based listening tasks, and interactive classroom exercises. The goal is to build fluency, comprehension, and confidence in expressing ideas clearly across common social and academic situations. In addition, students will study the Academic Word List (AWL) each week to refine their academic vocabulary comprehension and recognition. Students will be tested regularly on the AWL. The instructor will provide access to the word list. The course also incorporates the BBC Learning English podcast series The London to Edinburgh Challenge to support listening comprehension, grammar awareness, and real-world English use. |
| 授業のねらい・到達目標 | By the end of this course, students will be able to: Develop basic spoken and listening communication skills in English by participating in structured speaking activities, listening tasks, and interactive classroom exercises. Understand and use simple English in common social and academic situations, including classroom discussions and short spoken interactions. Improve listening comprehension and grammar awareness through regular engagement with English audio materials, including the BBC Learning English podcast series The London to Edinburgh Challenge. Expand academic vocabulary recognition and comprehension by studying and applying items from the Academic Word List (AWL) in quizzes and classroom activities. | 授業の方法 | Exercise method. Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class. Feedback will be provided in class or online when assignments are returned. |
| 履修条件 | ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、GRECで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」（前期）と「英語2」（後期）は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。 |
