授業概要 This course aims to develop communicative abilities across the four major skill areas (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), systematically review some grammar and vocabulary, and promote the development of study skills and independent learning. Our primary goal in class is to build productive communication skills through activities such as conversation, speeches, discussions, and paragraph writing. Outside of class, the goal is to develop other language skills.
授業のねらい・到達目標 - Students can write structured paragraphs, with a main point and
supporting details. (A-2-1, A-6-1)

- Students can give a 5- to 10-minute rehearsed presentation on an everyday topic and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions, plans, and actions. (A-3-1, A-6-1)

- Students can answer simple questions after giving a presentation. (A-2-1, A-3-1)

- Students can follow the outline of a presentation, announcement, or TV/movie scene on a
familiar topic, expressed slowly and clearly, and/or with visual support. (A-2-1)

- Students can easily participate in conversations about everyday topics. (A-2-1)

授業の方法 The course focuses on developing productive communication skills, specifically prioritizing practical English for oral presentations and writing. The teaching approach is centered on active learning, utilizing group discussions, debates, and experiential tasks to ensure students can proactively convey information and ideas. Each unit involves a progression from foundational exercises to output activities, such as formal paragraph writing and rehearsed presentations, with a heavy emphasis on peer feedback and collaborative work.

To support a digital and interactive workflow, students will need to Bring Their Own Laptop (BYOL) for every class session to use tools like Google Classroom and Google Docs. Systematic review is maintained through weekly discussions, presentations, and reflection journals, which promote independent learning. Feedback on all tasks and quizzes is generally provided during the subsequent class meeting to facilitate continuous improvement. In order to maximize educational effectiveness, this course is specifically targeted at students who are able to attend in-person classes.
履修条件 1) Take the English proficiency placement test and enroll in the class you are assigned to based on the results.
2) Students who have not taken the English proficiency placement test must enroll in the class to which they are assigned by GREC. Students cannot enroll in any class other than the one they are assigned to.
3) "English 1" (first semester) and "English 2" (second semester) must be taken in the same class taught by the same instructor at the same time.
4) If you select "English" as a foreign language subject required for graduation, you must enroll in this subject.

①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。
②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、GRECで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。
③「英語1」(前期)と「英語2」(後期)は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。
④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。
